Born in the far desert of Raurin, at the easternmost edge of Faerûn, Zarecht was raised and trained as a scout and warrior, ready to help defend his tribe against the cruel and more powerful eldritch giants. While he was on a trek in the mountains near his home, a prophetic dream he received let him to a portal that wisked him halfway across the land to the Anauroch desert. There, the path to the mountains shown in his dream was blocked by a metallic scorpion-like creature on which none of his weapons had any effect. Spotting a group of adventurer travelling trough the desert some time later, he pleaded for their help and managed to destroy the monster. The path through the mountain let them to an ancient mine where dwarves were being worked as slaves by a evil dwarf wizard, goliath cleric, and their band of raiders.
After the adventurers had killed or chased away all of the slavers, Zarecht met with the one he’d recognized from his dream: Julmund, a stone giant bard that had been held prisoner along with the dwarves. Zarecht willingly joined Julmund’s quest to spoil the plans of a cult of mixed giants wishing to bring back Annam to Fearûn. The two eventually seeked the assistance of Barend Balderk, a dwarf ally of the adventuring party Zarecht had met. Together, they reached the ruins of a millenia-old giant stronghold where they tought they could find information allowing them to reach the cult’s headquarters. However, an undead devourer was waiting for them and, in the ensuing fight, stole the life from Barend. Shortly after, Julmund and Zarecht reunited with the adventuring party who had come, although a bit too late, to rescue the dwarf. As the notes were slowly deciphered to show a way to the cult’s headquaters, Zarecht honed his skills in order to be ready when he’d have to face stronger members of his race, a duty he’d been preparing for all his life.
